Ketamine Integration Therapy

Ketamine Integration Therapy:
Where the experience becomes the work.

Ketamine integration therapy is the work of exploring, understanding, and applying what emerged during a ketamine experience. The session is not the treatment. The session is the opening. What you do with that opening in the days and weeks that follow can help determine whether what surfaced becomes meaningful therapeutic work or simply fades with time.

The Part That Completes the Work

The session is only
part of the work.

In some ketamine settings, integration may be brief, optional, or provided separately from the medicine session. The Ketamine Layering Effect™ protocol is built differently. Integration is not an add-on. It is not optional. It is an essential part of helping you explore, understand, and apply what emerged.

A ketamine session can produce profound experiences — moments of clarity, emotional access, unexpected insight. But an experience, however powerful, does not automatically become change. Change requires time, reflection, and skilled therapeutic support to translate what surfaced into something that actually lives in your daily life.

"The experience opens a door. Integration is what you do once you are standing in the doorway."

Without integration

The experience may be profound but disconnected from anything specific you wanted to work on. Without a therapeutic container for what surfaced, the work has nowhere clear to go. Insights fade. Patterns reassert themselves. The experience becomes a memory rather than a turning point.

With integration

What surfaced during the session becomes material for the work that follows. Amelia meets you where the experience left you and helps you explore what it means, how it connects to the patterns you came to work on, and how it can inform what you do differently going forward.

What the field recognizes

The field of psychedelic-assisted therapy broadly recognizes that preparation and integration are central to meaningful outcomes. The medicine is one component. The therapeutic work surrounding it shapes what the experience becomes.

Inside an Integration Session

Not a check-in.
A full therapeutic session.

Every KAP session in The Ketamine Layering Effect™ protocol is followed by a dedicated 50-minute integration session with Amelia — scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of each KAP session, when the material from the experience is still fresh and accessible. This is not a debrief. It is active therapeutic work — using what surfaced during the KAP session as the material for the session that follows.

Making Meaning

The KAP experience often surfaces imagery, emotion, or insight that does not immediately make logical sense. The integration session creates space to explore what emerged without rushing to interpret it. Meaning is not forced. It is allowed to arrive.

Anchoring Insight

When something shifts during a KAP session — a pattern recognized, a feeling accessed, a perspective that was not available before — the integration session works to anchor that shift into your daily life. How does what you experienced translate into how you show up at work, at home, with the people who matter most?

Pattern Interruption

Integration sessions actively work with the behavioral patterns identified in preparation. What does this experience change about how you respond to stress? To intimacy? To the people who depend on you? The session does not stop at insight — it moves toward change.

Preparing for What Comes Next

Each integration session also lays the groundwork for the KAP session that follows. Intentions are refined. New material that surfaced is mapped. The work builds on itself in a deliberate, sequenced way. This is the layering effect.

Why Timing Matters

The 24 to 48 hour window
after each session.

Scheduling integration sessions within 24 to 48 hours of each KAP session is a deliberate clinical choice. In the hours and days following a KAP session, many clients report a particular quality of openness — a softening of the usual defenses, a greater accessibility to emotion and reflection. This window, while it lasts, is a valuable time for integration work.

Amelia schedules every integration session with this in mind. Not a week later when the experience has faded. Not squeezed into the final minutes of the KAP appointment. A full dedicated session at the point when the material is most alive and most workable.

"A full dedicated session at the point when the material is most alive — not a week later when the experience has faded."

Across Six Integration Sessions

What the arc
looks like.

The six sessions create continuity across the course of treatment. Each integration session informs the next KAP session. Each KAP session informs the integration that follows. The work accumulates in a way that isolated sessions cannot produce.

  • 1

    First Integration

The first session after medicine. Processing what surfaced. Beginning to make meaning of the experience. Identifying what felt significant and why. Adjusting intentions for the session that follows.

    Session One · 50 Minutes
  • 2

    Building the Foundation

The middle sessions deepen the work. Patterns become clearer. The connection between what surfaced in session and what plays out in daily life becomes more visible. Behavioral anchoring begins.

Sessions Two and Three · 50 Minutes Each
  • 3

    Deepening the Work

By this point in the protocol, clients often report that things are shifting in ways they can feel but not fully articulate. The integration sessions in this phase focus on making the implicit explicit — naming what is changing and why.

Sessions Four and Five · 50 Minutes Each
  • 4

    Completion and Forward Planning

The final integration session reviews the arc of the work. What changed. What remains. What the path forward looks like without the structure of the protocol. For Gold Standard clients, a 30-day follow-up is included.

The Bigger Picture

Integration is what makes
the layering possible.

The Ketamine Layering Effect™ is built on a simple premise — that each session, properly prepared for and properly integrated, creates the foundation for deeper work in the session that follows. Without integration, sessions are isolated events. With integration, the sessions become a cumulative arc in which each experience can inform the work that follows.

This is what separates The Ketamine Layering Effect™ from clinic-only ketamine treatment. The medicine is the same. The difference is everything that surrounds it.

"Without integration, sessions are isolated events. With integration, the sessions become a cumulative arc in which each experience can inform the work that follows."

What ketamine integration therapy makes possible

What integration
can support over time.

The goal of integration is not to promise a particular outcome. It is to give what emerged during ketamine-assisted psychotherapy somewhere to go.

An insight can become a conversation. A newly recognized pattern can become a different response. An emotion that was finally accessible can become something you are able to understand and work with rather than push away.

The Ketamine Layering Effect™ brings preparation, the KAP experience, and integration into one continuous therapeutic process. Each phase informs the next. What emerges in one session becomes material for the work that follows.

Ketamine integration therapy is available with Amelia Mora Mars, LMFT in Westlake Village, California, serving clients throughout Ventura County, the Conejo Valley, and greater Los Angeles. IV KAP sessions are available at Point Health in Agoura Hills.
